How to Adjust Your Hot Water Timer Safely
Your hot water timer controls when your electric hot water system turns on and off. Adjusting the timer can help your system run during suitable times of the day, such as solar production periods or off-peak electricity times.

Adjusting Your Hot Water Timer
Step 1: Program the "ON" Times:
Find the Hager EHN011 dial and locate the segments that correspond to your preferred heating hours. If you are using solar, a common heating window is 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Move/push the pins in that block to the RIGHT (or down, depending on the model) to set them to "ON".
Step 2: Set the Current Time:
Rotate the main dial upward until your current time (e.g., 2:00 PM) aligns with the primary arrow or white indicator on the switchboard. Note: Only roll the dial upwards; forcing it backwards can damage the internal gears.
Step 3: Program the "OFF" Times:
Locate the segments outside of your preferred heating hours (e.g., overnight). Move the pins to the RIGHT (or pull them up) to ensure the heater is off during these periods.
Step 4: Set to Automatic Mode:
Look at the toggle switch (usually on the bottom right). Set it to the AUTO (clock symbol) for timed daily cycling.Manual ON (I): Forces the hot water on permanently, bypassing your schedule.Manual OFF (0): Turns the water heater off entirely.

If you need hot water outside your scheduled heating times, you can move the toggle switch down to the I position. This turns the hot water on continuously. Remember to switch it back to the clock symbol / Auto mode once you are finished, otherwise the system may continue heating outside your preferred schedule.
